Memphis Skyline HDR [Mantiuk]

Newer Older

Memphis skyline in the late afternoon sun viewed from across the Mississippi River.

Does anyone else find it ridiculous that it took around 5 or 6 hours to process these photos? I don't mean the software rendering time was that long, I mean that it took me 5 or 6 hours to play with settings in my software until I got a result I liked.

I uploaded 3 tonemapped versions of this HDR shot. One is more realistic, but lacking in definition, one looks more like a watercolour and is highly contrasting. This one is in between. I could not decide which one I liked, I hope you will view all three and let me know which one you like the most.

This image is created from 13 exposures and is tonemapped using the Perceptual Framework for Contrast Processing of High Dynamic Range Images by Rafal Mantiuk, Karol Myszkowski, and Hans-Peter Seidel in QTPFSGUI.

Pregamma=0.6
Contrast mapping=0.3
Saturation factor=1

See a map depicting how I got to the location where I took this photo.
