Birdhouse
Our first birdhouse ... we've had feeders for years, but never a dwelling ... bought this on sale at a department store ... made in China.
It's actually white ... in the early morning light, the shadows had that interesting blue cast.
I waited until now to put it up because I wanted to avoid the early spring sparrow-housing rush, in hopes that some later-arriving finches will nest there.

Nice house! Yes, I've noticed how the morning light tends to make white things look blue.

That's a really nice one. I've a couple of bluebird houses that I need to setup.

I saw the thumbnail and thought that branch in the backgroud was an electrical connection. I thought may-be birds in Michigan we a bit more upscale than birds in Colorado. :-)

You can avoid the House Sparrows by putting an excluder plate over the hole. A 1" diameter hole will allow House Wrens access but keep the sparrows out. (these can be purchased online or at a local bird store) Also, the perch can be removed since the wrens have stronger legs than the sparrows.

Beware of the Wrens. They are cute but a complete menace. I have multiple houses in my yard and chickadees spent a week building their nest and then laid the eggs only to have wrens raid them and crack all their eggs.
