秦淮河 Qinhuai River

秦淮河 Qinhuai River

Nanjing's origins lie at the Qinhuai River, a branch of China's Yellow River. The main scenic area lies at the Fuzi (Confucius) Temple. The busy riverside development reflects Nanjing's origins as a river town. The river has a long history as a transit route, gaining fame during the Ming and Qing dynasties for its red-lantered boats. Today, tourists can rent paddle boats for leisurely tours.
