mountain texture
IMG425a by tellytom.
Sunset and the route ahead, Southern Pickets Traverse, North Cascades National Park, Washington State

(although not my favorite photo it does touch a chord in me, an intoxication that I feel while in the mountains, when one is surrounded and immersed in so many very special mountain textures, some of them right under one's own feet)

Someday I'll need to make it out to the Pickets - Mt. Spickard in particular has always been on my list. BTW - love this shot, and glad it strikes a chord for you. As they should, these kinds of memories.

Wow. Thanks for sharing this today - you've rescued an otherwise very dismal Friday and I am grateful. Sometimes a little perspective and a photographic 'pinch' are just enough to steer someone back into a good mental place.

Amazing photograph. I love the texture on the mountain, and the colors you exhibit. I can see the sand or rocks with amazing detail. Very nice

Well I am surprised at the response to this photo because I avoided posting it before thinking that it would not be appreciated. When I took this photo back in 1977 I was pretty much working with a clean slate so to speak, in that there were not many photos out there such as this to use as examples and guides. Now these sorts of angles get used much more frequently and are common place. So thanks for appreciating a young kids developing eye!

I love this, Tom! There's also such a difference between film and digital, and it's evident here, I think.....

SuperMellowMan,
Film/digital, well of course this scanned slide is now a combination of them both. I’m pretty happy with most of my scanned slides, but some of them, such as this one, never really make the leap completely.

I like the interesting angle and especially the very shallow zone of focus. Also the textures and repeating elements/color. It tells a story...and well.
