cathedral windows

i love this pattern, i really do. and i love the combination of flea market fancy and white. i hope my pillow swap partner does too!

i used a different method for the cathedral windows this time... last time i machine-sewed and folded the fabric windows around a template. for this pillow, i used eunny jang's method from stitch magazine and hand-sewed. i found the whole process more relaxing... maybe i'm just not that good at doing detail work on my machine, but it was so satisfying to be able to do the little points by hand and not stress out on the machine. added bonus- a much more couch-and-movie-friendly project :)

(the color is wacky on this photo because it was dark when i went to work this morning, alas. and i couldn't get it quite right.)

i love eunny's method too, i did the blocks and found then fun and easy to take with me for impromptu stitching. it is lovely, but then, everything you do consistently is. :)

I have been doing the "it's mine, it's mine" dance party since it arrived yesterday! It is completely amazing and the most wonderful holiday present ever! Thanks for all your hard work Amisha, I really appreciate all the work you put in . . . the handwork makes it so much more personal to me . . . it makes me think of how busy you have been and how exciting your life has been with school, moving, a interstate romance . . . etc. It is just lovely and it will always put a smile on my face!

This is stunning! And I love that you did it by hand. :o) I feel I can't get good detail on my machine, either, and feel so intimidated when I see what wonderful things other people create with their machine...so thank you for the reminder that we can make beautiful and perfect and cherished creations with our hands, too. :o)

Beautiful! I am wanting a Cathedral window quilt...have you blogged about your way of doing cathedral windows? I could use all the help I could get! :)

      thank you so much!
kirsten, i am so happy that you like it! it was such a pleasure to make for you :)
marcia, i don't have a blog, but you can find this method in stitch magazine (published by interweave). i'm not sure of the exact issue, but the project is "cathedral window baby blocks" by eunny jang-- if you google that i think you'll find it!
