This house is a lovely combination of traditional style architecture and contemporary sheet metal siding. I really wonder if it's extremely old and has just continued to be horribly updated over the years - it's the windows that make me wonder. Thoughts?

Dogu are little figurines from the Jomon period of ancient Japan. These are dogu shaped cookies with chocolate in the middle. I got them as a souvenir from a very serious exhibit of dogu statuettes. I brought them to a Christmas party and they were a big hit.

This isn't very good Engrish, but I like the shot better than the idea of superpowered construction. I also like the diamond sign for construction. This is on my walk back from Nippori to my home in Arakawa, Tokyo.

I can't remember where this menu in Kawasaki came from, but talk about the cutest yakitori menu ever. If I remember correctly, it was for a yatai, or street stall. I especially think that's true because of the straw blinds behind it.... see?

I had the good luck to make my visit to Kinswomnyn, the oldest lesbian women-only bar in Tokyo, on their birthday! What a lot of fun although not being on the inside crowd was a little awkward. Still, check out this vibe! This is my favorite crowd shot, out of the very very few I have actually done. I especially like the light of the woman and her cigarette in the lower right corner, and the obvious but totally invisible smile of the woman laughing behind the bar.
