Went walkabout in the Motor City...the impressive architecture was enhanced by the beautiful sky.

American Coney Island and Lafayette Coney Island...next door neighbors and rivals on Lafayette Boulevard in downtown Detroit...are among the most famous purveyors of the "Coney Island" chili dog.

I've had "Texas" coneys in Pennsylvania and Coney Island dogs in Texas...along with plenty of Cincinnati-style coneys over the years. So, today it was time to go to the source and have a side-by-side taste test.

Native Detroiters do not hesitate to announce their allegiance and only their personal favorite will do when it's time for a coney.

I enjoyed both versions and, while I lean more towards one than the other, I won't influence anyone else...go taste them for yourselves.
