This is something truly rare. This is an ad right before the NES was released. It advertises Nintendo's Mario Brothers for the Atari consoles (2600 and up). Nowadays you would never see Mario on anything except a Nintendo console.

I remember this ad, and fondly. It was based on a television ad which more or less depicts the same things.
I didn't see it for the longest time after I had come to know Mario and Nintendo as their own entity, and not as having anything to do with Atari, so it was a bit of a surprise. I finally came across it when I got my hands on a back-issue of Marvel's Transformers that I had been missing, issue #3 I believe. And this was on the inside front cover.
Actually, the first issue of GamePro was promoting the game as well, some time well after, but on a higher version of Atari hardware. Struck me as bizarre then, too.
