The gas-pipe that wasn't
This gas pipe has been sealed in our kitchen for, let's say 18 years. all the time it has been fitted with a water supply stopcock.
this means that we have been having leaking gas the whole time we have lived in our current flat (over two years)
thanks goodness we live in a leaky 100 year old victorian number - if it had been modern and sealed up - we'd have been (or at least the previous owners and their neighbours) gonners.
ever see bits of streets blown up by gas leaks? this is just one of the reasons why that may have happened.
