We decided to call it, The Most Depressing Friday Night Ever.

Anyway, I was listening to the Sklar Brother's Holiday Podcast the other day, and I've decided to steal a great idea from Matt Price. At the beginning of December every year, he hosts a party he calls "HoliDisc". The idea is, all of his music loving friends create a mix and bring enough copies of it to the party so everyone gets one. The catch is, all of the songs have to be from that year. No busting out the Beatles because you had an ex that liked "Here Comes the Sun" and you're lazy. No. You actually have to go out, listen to music, hunt out the good stuff, and develop an opinion about what's good. Everyone who does this and comes to the party will play a portion of their disc, talk about the songs they've chosen, and turn their friends on to their favorite stuff.

Now, I'm lucky. Most of my friends have amazing taste in music. In my circle are DJ's, concert photographers, and people who should be both. One friend knows all the best indie, another knows neo-soul and hip hop like the back of her hand. One friend has a friend in just about every local band of the past 10 years, and another has all the songs that inspired your favorite artists. If you got these people in a room together, they could fuel a radio station for years on their ideas alone.
