solstice to solstice: stillness

solstice to solstice: stillness

Sitting on the couch with the new puppy sleeping on my chest
reminds me of the countless hours spent this way with our own two boys as babies.
Meet Edgar!

saturday night

saturday night

Weekend evenings this time of year, one swings wide as one passes another car on our road; there are so many trucks hauling wide trailers of snowmobiles, heading home from the day spent up in the mountains above us.

As I approached the car up there, at the corner, I was leaving the usual wide berth when I realized it was my family, that they were waiting for me to stop and talk. They were off to look at a litter of puppies an hour and a half away.

I pulled over to the side of the road, parked the car, and hopped in with them...
...He slept the whole way home in the boys' laps in the back seat of the car as we rattled off (and vetoed) hundreds of potential names for him.

mission mountains

the return trip

a little sorry we couldn't see the tops of these mountains as we came over the hill; they're spectacular.

city fix

city fix

lumber yard, bakeries, coffee shops, 2nd hand stores, home-brew supplier, fabric store, yarn store, book store,
and lunch out.
7.5 hours of driving for a 5 hour whirlwind of a visit.
just nice to all be TOGETHER somewhere ALTOGETHER different,
doing things like putting coins in the parking meter and waiting for the walk signal.

i'm thinking that you just don't see this much anymore,
except in our world.
when she brought the phone book to our table it still had the plastic wrapping around it.
