    so i broke my iPod a long time ago, and since then i've wondered what to do ith it. chucking out something so expensive is against my nature, even if it's broken.
    so...conversion was the only answer.

    i have kept the hard drive in hope of retrieving my songs.
    but the case...well i'm using it in other, rather scary ways.
    since i don't smoke this is kind of pointless.
    (i think there's some psychological brainwash-y reason that the only thing that reallllly fits in gutted iPods is cigarettes...)
    anyway. i'll either use it for cigarettes i never smoke, my favourite deck of cards, betting sized pencils and crayons or i'll give it to a smoker :P
    but mmmm cigarettes and iPods...they work so well :P
    horribly over marketed addictions.

      i'm sort of trying to figure that one out. working out different types of hinges etc.
      industrial elecrical tape = yes but doesn't look good.
      i'm working with wire now :)

      I went ahead and did the same with my old broken iPod video, but how did you remove all the internals or just the hard drive / battery? Because I don't think I can remove the motherboard, processor, etc. :\ Also, how do you make it easier to open once you closed it because it seems every time i close the ipod back up it's very hard to remove the back off again : |

      Heya,

      I can't say I remember exactly. Force, was the only way really. You have to do your best not to ruin the outside.

      Opening = hinges. Simple hinges on one side. Then a tab on the opening side (attached to the inside of the face) so when you close it, you can use the tab to open it.

      You can also pull off the headphone jack and the hold button since they're attached together. If you unscrew the sides you can take out the screen so you can see whats inside.
