Golden Eagle (Aquila chrysaetos)

Not quite the shot I was looking for but I'll take it for now. I drove through Carrizo on my way to Sacramento, A Golden Eagle was my "target" bird, saw a couple near California Valley as expected but too far away to get a photo. I found this one on Bitterwater Road, eight miles after leaving Soda Lake Road, 15 minutes before sunset. He shifted, ready to take off as soon as I got out of the car, gave me this view as he departed. I guess I shouldn't complain too much about the less than ideal lighting.
