This a view of the Cuillin Hills from Elgol, Skye.
Although many people disagree with me on this point, I think a lot of landscape photography comes down to luck. On this occasion I was lucky that weather held out long enough for us to reach Elgol without the sky filling up with cloud and obscuring the view; but more importantly with this visit was the luck in getting the cloud formations that appearred to the right of the main peak (thank you Mother Nature).
I could see there was an opportunity to catch an incoming wave that would match the angle of the cloud thereby giving some balance to the lower portion of the picture. The wave could also act as a lead-in line to the Hills, if I positioned it right. The problem was how wet was I going to get in the process. The answer was - very wet indeed! However, I think the sacrifice was worth it in the end - I hope you agree.
