This was one of the most difficult shots I've ever made. This little guy is about the size of a dime, he's on a single blade of grass. They almost never open their wings unless the temperature is below 70 degrees, and in Alabama that's almost never. He wouldn't let me get closer than about 5 feet without flying away, so I had to shoot this with my 300mm with a 2x adapter, hand held with no image stabilizer and manual focus. Took about 30 tries for this one. These little gems look so good and are so shy, I've been trying to get this shot for long time.
