Photo shows President William H. Taft during the dedication of the memorial to the battleship Maine, which exploded in the harbor of Havana, Cuba, during the Spanish-American War of 1898. In 1913, the monument was placed at the Columbus Circle and 59th Street entrance to Central Park in New York City. (Source: Central Park Web site and Flickr Commons project, 2009)
