Sunset 2
I arrived home just as the sun was setting, and before doing anything else, I grabbed my camera and drove over to a nearby park, where I captured 5 images. Two of them are being posted on Flickr tonight.
For this image, it was impossible not to have the palm tree in the center of the picture. but when I saw the result in the computer, I quite liked it.
Taken in Chandler, Arizona. (Information provided for "Alba luminis" group.)
This is now my most-viewed picture, with 214 views as of 10/24/05 -- 6 days after the photo was taken. (Information added for "Most Viewed" group.)

One of my co-workers would agree with that sentiment. He adopted this image as the screensaver on his computer. Unfortunately, however, he could not fill the entire screen with it, because almost all the images I upload to Flickr are reduced to 640x480 pixels, and this one started to pixelate when he tried to expand it to cover the screen.

These are both beautiful shots - I can understand wanting to get this shot before it could get away.
I think I like this one better because the trees frame the shot better, although I liked the mountain peak in the other one as well. Both good shots, though!

No, don't quit trying; and if it offers you any encouragement, you may be interested in knowing that I never used a digital camera at all until about 4-1/2 months ago. In fact, before that, I rarely took more than 2 or 3 rolls of film in a year. So I am pretty new and inexperienced at this myself.

Thanks. I was fortunate to be able to capture it at all, because I used my 300mm lens, which is rather heavy, but did not use a tripod. It was difficult to hold the camera steady, so I took about 10 pictures of this scene just to make sure that at least one turned out well.
