Another sunset I almost missed

I was inside the house, getting ready to make a phone call, when my wife and daughter left to run an errand. A moment later, Sheila came back inside to tell me there was a great sunset in progress. I grabbed my camera and took several images, including this one. I nearly missed it, and likely would have, but for my wife's mention of it. This one was a dandy, though, wasn't it?

Thanks! It helps sometimes to have "scouts" tell me about the great sunsets I would have otherwise missed!

Gorgeous! Makes me want to get out on the roof and try it myself. How did you do it? Long exposure?

A dandy? This is probably jealousy talking, but sure seems like more than half of your sunsets out there are dandies :) Great shot. I'm digging the off-center positioning of those lovely palms.

@justinlphillips: Actually, it wasn't long exposure at all -- 1/125 sec. at f/8. I did use bracketing, however, which gave me three versions of this photo at different white-balance settings. Of the three, I liked this one best.

@christopherdale: The off-center positioning of the trees is not done just to comply with the rule of thirds. If I had put these trees anywhere else in the image, then other trees, rooftops, antennas, and a/c units would have appeared as well, and distracted from what I really wanted to show. The fact that I had to take this picture while standing in the middle of a residential street meant that I had very little room to maneuver.

Thanks to everyone else for your comments.

Thank you, Somayeh, for that nice compliment. If it offers you any encouragement, you might want to know that I took up photography in earnest just over a year ago, and until that time, I had never taken a single picture with a digital camera. All it takes is a willingness to learn and persevere, and to take lots of pictures. You can do it, too!
