Bride at dusk 2
Another image of the same bride I photographed just before sunset one Saturday at the Mesa Arizona LDS Temple. I have added it to my "Humor" set based on the comments that follow.
(Update: This photo appeared in Explore on 3/5/06. It was the first of my images to make the grade since the selection criteria for Explore were changed sometime in January.)

good captures of the bride. this one looks like she's trying to get away!
gwilmore (76 months ago | reply)
Either that, or she's watching the groom flee the scene! I thought of that when I took this picture.

That is great. It does look like she is trying to get away. But it is hard to be stealthy in a dress like that!

I love this!! She almost looks like cinderella or some princess trying to hide around the corner and peaking to make sure no one is coming. There is a story here and I love it!

Thanks for all of your comments, folks. I thought about not uploading this picture, but it's turning out to be something of a hit out there in Flickrdom, and all of you have given me some great feedback.

Come to think of it, one of my favorite movies is "Come September," and this photo sort of reminds me of the end of that movie. Instead of the temple, I should have taken this at a busy railroad station instead! :-)

@Juan Guzman: It's always a pleasure to run into you, and I hope all is going well. Thank you for the feedback.
@jilbean3: Thanks for the tipoff. This is the first of my photos to make Explore since they changed the rules for it a few weeks ago. It's nice to know I can still take pictures that will end up there!

Congrats on the interestingness!

Thanks! I went through an uninspired period after about the latter part of January, but this image seems to have ended it, at least based on the reaction it is getting.

I love it! Great capture!
Did she see you taking this pic?
gwilmore (75 months ago | reply)
No, she didn't. This was a candid shot, at least for my part. Her official wedding photographer was off to the right somewhere, and she was talking to him when I snapped this image.

Now that's just a fabulous candid shot, full of expression...!

fun shot!! :)
Thanks for your comment on Mrs. Ebadi's books picture! I do have a great respect for her too, and I got to see her the day before I posted that book cover on my pictures, I get to talk to her and listen to her.. it was a great experiance! She made me feel like I have to work harder and help the people in the world! and be less selfish :)!!

I envy you for having been able to meet her in person. I will probably read that book again sometime.

Great photo and a great capture. I sense the nervous anxiety and I chuckle. Somehow we survive our weddings. Thanks.

I don't know if she is trying to escape, or whether the groom is, and she is watching him flee the scene; but people really seem to get a kick out of this picture. My wife loves it, too!
