It was winter, but weather was mild. I was walking along this street in Oslo. Snow and ice started melting and falling from the roofs. On almost every wall, there were warning banners. They are quite common in Oslo.
I named it "Accidental Daniel Buren"
A few years later, this photo peeked in my statistics by 60-70 views in just one day. For such a plain photo?
I tracked it down to an artist web page somewhere, a master student, I think in France. It contained a lecture on Daniel Burens work . My image was introducing the slide section explaining about Burens public work, next to his work "Les Deux Plateaux" "Les Deux Plateaux", in the courtyard of Palais Royal, Paris.
The text for my image was this:
"Buren's interest in the physical components of the work, such as its surface and support, lead to the exploration of material and ideological aspects of artworks that are usually not visible, revealing what conventional paintings tend to hide. He treats painting itself as the subject of painting, and what he's done here is taking his stripes and displacing them in a non-art context."
