The DiceHouses Shanty_2879
The DICEHOUSES Shanty reminds folks that there is no more efficient
source of warmth than sitting across the table from one's family, some
good friends or strangers and playing some good ol' table top games.
Each of the 5 DICEHOUSES is stocked with The Book of Hoyle, playing
cards, dice and games for all to play.

An obvious KAP subject. Very good.

Ha! I'm glad Lenny saw this - this reminds me of his little electronics-guys posing on dice. Only this time the dice got big enough for people to go inside, instead of the people getting small enough to sit on top of. I like this view - I like seeing the little table inside.

YAHTZEE! Fantastic Jerry. I had really given some thought to coming up to shoot these Art Shanty's but just didn't have the energy. I'm so glad you did it.
This shot is one- of- a- kind, well actually six-of-a-kind.

Very nice subject indeed, sir!

@ KAP'n Craig,
There's a group in what's called the Mapping Shanty who, much to my surprise, are planning to kap the whole area and make a map of it. One of the guy’s approached me and started asking questions about my rig. If my feet hadn't got damp and started to get cold I would have taken the time to look them up to see what they plan to use. I hope to get out there the day they do that.

Thsi photo is amazing. I ran it through a Tilt Shift filter and posted it on Facebook. It looks kinda cool. Not as cool as the original by any means, but interesting none the less. Take a gander.

I used to live in the Upper Midwest and always thought ice fishing was a pretty silly way to spend the winter. (Kite flying makes much more sense.) This just shows how wrong I was. I am ever humbled, grateful and enriched by the creativity of the human spirit. Both the KAP set and the artshanty project are just too cold...er, cool! Thanks for sharing your photos and turning the rest of us on to this event.

@ DeoxyribonucleicAcid,
There are a few shanties from last year, but a good number of new ones. The ones I visited were fun, informative, and the artists were delightful.

Mayor Mike here. I was part of the team that built the dICEHOUSES at this years' Art Shanty Projects (ASP). ASP is putting together a book of last year's project to help compensate for the "drying-up" of funding for next's year's project being blamed on the economy. All proceeds beyond printing costs will go directly into coffers for next year's artists.
Your aerial photos of the dICEHOUSES were the best ones shot. I'd really like to be able to use it as our primary photo if possible. I can't offer much other than a copy of the book, which I will pay for out of my own pocket, and any sort of credit you would like in the book immediately adjacent to the photo.
I'd just need as Hi-res a photo as possible.
Shoot me a line and let me know your thoughts. I won't move on it unless I hear from you.
