The Tow boat Mississippi_6440

    Newer Older

I received a citation from a very hostile St. Paul, off duty, police officer today while attempting to take photos of this towboat during a public showing. He singled me out of all the people with cameras taking photos because mine was on the end of an eleven meter pole. I've been stopped by security before without mishap. This guy had a chip on his shoulder, he even tried to break my pole.

      received a citation

I you received a written citation you probably have tomake acourt appearance. I would hire a lawyer and fight it.

In Iowa the favorite charges are "disorderly conduct" and "interference with an official act." They are vague charges and it is your word against the cops.

Ironically there is a very big difference in Army Corps stations. Many of the locks have visitor centers and observation decks but a few such as Keokuk, Iowa are real wankers. Some of it may come down to the local commanders personal preferences.

An offical photography ban will look like this and is primarily limited to military bases:

I just returned from my day in court and I’m happy to say that all charges against me were dropped without appearing before the judge.
