The Rieti Valley is a mountainous region just over 60 miles northeast of Rome. In the early 13th century, Saint Francis of Assisi visited the area on several occasions. Seeking a place of isolation where he could meditate and get closer to the Lord. He found exactly what he was looking for in the Rieti Valley. One specific place amongst several, where Francis spent a fair bit of time when he was in the Rieti Valley was a village called Poggio Bustone. Here a tiny abandoned hermitage served Francis and his brothers as a home where they could pray and fast.
For the week I will be posting some works of my good friend Patrick Cheah who went on a journey to witness the ceremony of the beatification of John Paul II, the biggest event in Vatican City since his death six years ago. His journey starts from Milan.
A selection of Patrick's images will appear on my stream this week while I take a short break. You will surely find them interesting and compelling as much as I do. Hope you will enjoy my selection as I post them in stages. Mr Cheah has graciously allowed me to showcase some of his shots for public viewing at my discretion.
Thank you all again for following my stream and I apologise that I am unable to keep up with so many kind comments.
