      I think I know how this was designed... It looks like there are 5 umbrellas put together on a pivot in the center. If you look closely enough you can see the points on each side. Front, Rear, Right, and Left. The "port hole" things are connectors that make up for the gaps between umbrellas.
      Very cool design!
