This enormous Sea Eagle put on a show for us, then for the photographer on the beach.

made from Moda fabrics, which were bought on my last trip to the USA! I have to decide now what to bind the quilt in - I think it may have to be a brick colour.....
update: I;ve actually gone with the teal colour, as I had some in the cupboard and it's a perfect match! I dont know why I bother planning - I invariably do something different than I plan to do.

the technique is relatively easy, so long as accuracy is maintained. And the results are fabulous. definitely laying out the "hexagons" was the most fun part - i think this one may be a keeper for sure.
the colours are actually deeper than they appear here - that's a really dark navy, and the blue is amost into a teal shade. The red is a deep terracotta. They work beautifully together.

i've never done a kaleidoscope quilt before, and I think this may be a new favourite - it's so organic! The photo doesnt quite do the colours justice however - they are so rich and warm.
