OK Q, you did manage to sneak by a DC metro symmetry thing earlier last week, but enough is enough. These are probably the easiest shots to get in our metro system and I can not in good consciousness let you get away with another. delete3

By the way I'll see you Sunday for the Georgetown photowalk, we should make a bet on whoever gets an image into the Hot Box from the walk first has to buy the other a Adorama gift card. Are you in?

    13. theqspeaks (8 months ago | reply)

, fair point, but getting that exposure without blowing out all the detail in the maps isn't easy.

As for Sunday, tempting. Unfortunately, I have plans that afternoon and night, which means I probably won't get around to processing those shots until midweek or later. Puts me at a major disadvantage in a race to save10. I might be in if we agree on waiting a week before submitting our first photowalk shot to the pool.

    14. csuspect (8 months ago | reply)

Good idea about waiting a week. Let's post on Sunday 10/9 after 7 p.m. I say 7 because I have an all day photo adventure in Annapolis that day.

You know there is a good chance neither of us will win as the Hot Box has gotten tougher lately, LOL.

the maps wreck some good architecture.

I love the lighting, symmetry, comp! Boring location, interesting perspective/comp for a shot!

A correctly exposed photo of a map. Well done !

-Voted "delete6"by Master Baitalot who is a blind retarded tosser with no taste for real photograpy, in the DMU or HotBox.

    21. theqspeaks (8 months ago | reply)

, looks like it won't matter for this shot, but can one of the admods tell to include "save" or "delete" on his vote comments? He's commenting and tagging, just not adding that bit into his comments.

    24. theqspeaks (8 months ago | reply)

, that's a negative...shooting in DC metros are 100% legal as long as you're not in anyone's way or using a tripod.

    25. nixter (8 months ago | reply)

This is great but the color feels funky in that sign. I would shoot for BW or some cross process.

I think the focus is a little soft, but the perfect symmetry has won me over.

Metro signs usually are a funky color. Take it from someone who walked through that station daily for 7 years.

So sorry, your shot has been voted unworthy of the Hot Box :(
Look on the bright side, you can post in the NOT BOX while you're getting your next shot ready! :)

If theres one thing I hate it's pompous snobby artist who are no better than they THINK they are.

critiquing doesn't mean be an complete ass, especially when you don't have anything good in your OWN photostream to begin with.

This is a good pic, end of story.

      Good job

, I appreciate the supportive comment. But don't worry, I knowingly subjected myself to the abuse. It's a snarky, brutal group that's often full of crap, but I do find that the feedback (while often harsh) is far more useful than the fluffy stuff that one usually finds on Flickr. Cheers!

Cool ceiling and I like the way that the lighting spreads across it. This shot does look way better on black. Sorry, nothing snarky to add to the pool.

    38. Maryland Route 5 (8 months ago | reply)

Geez, I read these very unpleasant comments above. What Flickr group allows members to savage your photo like that?

    39. csuspect (8 months ago | reply)

That would be the Hot Box. A brutal critique group that will do more for your photography skills than any other. You should give it a shot.

    40. Maryland Route 5 (8 months ago | reply)

Thanks! I'll have to get up my nerve, and then maybe I'll take the plunge.

, csuspect is right. My photography has improved more in the last 4 months since joining than it had in the previous year.
