The furrowed trail behind a large rock reveals its considerable history of movement, at moments unobserved, across the dessicated Racetrack Playa, Death Valley National Park, California.

Most of the rocks here seemed to have moved in the direction of the mountain in the far left of this frame, but this big rock and several others in the area had been turned around by the forces of nature and left to take a much more circuituous route.
