Power by Night

Power by Night

Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station rather dominates the somewhat flat local area, with its huge cooling towers billowing away. On a clear day they're even more obvious, creating clouds in an otherwise empty sky.

Against the twilight sky though, and with the East Midlands Parkway railway station glowing in the foreground, I think they're worth a second look.

Winter Farming

Winter Farming

The Derbyshire Peak District has some very isolated areas, with little twisty dry-stone walled roads separating out the small flocks of hill sheep. At this time of year it's very bleak but, with an occasional light dusting of snow, to me very beautiful.

Christmas Day Sunset over South Derbyshire

Christmas Day Sunset over South Derbyshire

Christmas Day is often spent at my sister's home, and one highlight is the views she's got over the surrounding area. When the conditions are just right, you can see some glorious sunsets from there - this is what we got on Christmas day.
