Snowpeas

Snowpeas

I've been trying to improve my food photography, but it's a slow process. There's usually a bit of extra effort required to set up food shots and it can be challenge to find time. Anyway, this shot was fairly simple, although it was tricky to get these snowpeas organised in a way that seemed random, but still revealed the shape. I do like the transparancy that I've achieved on the shells and I'm ok with the lightspill from behind, but those two peas on the left that don't quite stay in the frame drive me crazy! Anyways, I enjoyed making the shot.

Ted

Ted

A couple of weeks ago I thought it was time for a change of pace. It being winter and all, I didn't feel like going outside, so I challenged myself to photograph something in my home "studio". I selected this Ted Baker bag, which was a recent gift. The bag looked pretty good all on it's own, but I thought it would look even better with a flash of colour, so I added something from my weekday wardrobe. I think the tie looks better on Ted than it does on me. No surprise there!

Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum

Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum

Tonight I was sorting through photos from my trip to Glasgow last year, when I stumbled upon this photo of the interior of one of the halls of Kelvingrove Gallery in Glasgow. It certainly brings back some memories as I made many trips to Kelvingrove when I was young, and again when I had my own kids. The building was constructed for the Glasgow International Exhibition and opened in 1901. Originally known as the Palace of Fine Arts, the gallery was designed by Sir John W. Simpson and E.J. Milner Allen. The photo shows the interior of one hall, which contains the now famous floating heads exhibit. The galley is located in Glasgow's west end, just a short distance from the city centre. As with all public museums and galleries in the UK, the entrance fee is a donation of your choice. This is a must see if you travel to Glasgow. www.museumsgalleriesscotland.org.uk/member/kelvingrove-ar...

Downtown Toronto, looking west. This view is from the window of a condo building. It shows the CN Tower, Rogers Centre (formerly Skydome) Union Station, the Air Canada Centre, and (on the rightmost edge) the Royal York Hotel, as well as new condo development along the Gardiner Expressway and Lake Ontario.
