Schiermonnikoog: KAP

This is the almost definitive proof that Schiermonnikoog, the smallest inhabited island of the Netherlands, is actually an island; In the interactive version you will see only a couple of degrees where there's no sea on the horizon.

Judging from the red lighthouse towards the left, the camera was at about 55-60 meters up in the sky, suspended from the kite that is also in the panorama; the Noordertoren light is 44 meters above sea level, and the kite is well above the tower roof.

The panorama was shot with the Tokina 10-17mm fisheye (instead of the Sigma 8mm for my previous KAP panoramas) as an experiment. The sharpness of the images os much better, but there's a lot more stitching involved.

Another great one, Aldo -- but viewing it in SpiV for some reason makes it impossible for me to add a comment here afterwards! I have to restart Firefox before I can enter anything.

    Superb. Well done.

Broox: no problem on firefox 2.0 here.

Was one shot from the ground with the Tokina 10-17mm fisheye good enough to patch the zenith?

  8. Aldo (45 months ago | reply)

I'm pretty sure I used more than one zenith shot. I think I shot a 'zenith hemisphere'.

Thanks...that's what I was thinking of trying with my next aerial 360. Use the PanoDuino to shoot 6 shots with the camera tilted slightly up. With hurricane Ike striking the Texas coast today I'll have to wait until Monday to try it out.

Either that, or you'll have one spectacular panorama! Take care...
