Finally, "Gilbert Rohde - Modern Design for Modern Living", by Phyllis Ross, has arrived!
I've been anticipating this momentous occasion for nearly ten years! And from what I've seen, it was well worth the wait!
The first biography of Rohde, I can't tell you how thrilling it was to see so many new images, including a blueprint design of the Paldao group which we collect. I want to take the rest of the week off to read it... Ms. Ross has published an article about Rohde in the Journal of Design History, and also has a chapter in the "Paris/New York: Design Fashion Culture, 1925-1940" catalog, and both were very well written and carefully researched previews of this book.
I'm over the moon! I'm also surprised and honored to be mentioned in the acknowledgements!
