ilkley moor

    Newer Older

This is about half way up the valley from ilkley, leading up to ilkley moor. It's just above the White Wells, and gives great views.

It's quite a touching place - theres 4 benches here, all dedicated to the memories of local people who've passed away (i presume most of them used to like coming up here). It's such an idilic spot it's virtually impossible not to sit down for a few minutes and take in the view.

(taken with an infra-red filter - see the low-fi camera setup involving an elastic band here)

I like that it's tough to get a sense of scale.

@apertome, yeah, it is a little wierd like that. There was someone sat on one of the benches, but i couldn't get a decent angle on him, so hid him behind a tree... a minute later he stood up and walked off, but didnt get chance to get a shot in (you can just make him out in the DOF blur of the colour shot below this one in the stream)

@mritz - thanks - its not really toned as such, this is an infra-red image that's been de-saturated a fair bit - the sky is usually a bit more colourful than the vegetation, which comes out nearly white in infra-red.
