An old section of Highway 99, in its more elegant days. A difficult spot to get to - I got there via about a 1/4 mile, 30-degree climb through blackberry brambles and poison oak bushes the size of small Sequoia Redwoods - but barring my soon breaking out in something that looks worse than smallpox, it was worth it. Later that afternoon, Mrs. v and I took a safer, easier route: parking on an I-5 off-ramp and walking about 1/2 a mile along the freeway. The only other access seems to involve trespassing across some hillbilly's cannabis farms, but forget that. That'd be dangerous. Maybe they were the reason that I got such a sense of 'the creeps' when I was up here. Maybe it was the slightly scary feeling that seems to go with all abandoned structures. Regardless, it wasn't entirely comfortable being up here, in spite of it being such an amazing sight.
I took about 20 photos up here, but this was my favorite. It's amazing what clouds can add to an image.
