Visitor Centre

Visitor Centre

This is the visitor centre/cafe at Attenborough, nice design of the roof and I completely had the square crop B&W thing in mind when I shot this!
It's a stack of several shots (I think 5 in the end), varying exposures, which have then been aligned and averaged in order to blur out the clouds more than I could straight off the camera. The technique also dramatically sharpened the bits of the shot which stayed still, and reduces noise really well, so it's something I might try again!
It's a bit of a shame about the stickers on the windows, signs, etc. but nevermind.

House on Stilts

House on Stilts

I couldn't resist the 'lomo' treatment on this one, seemed to suit the subject perfectly - strange old house this, looks pretty run down and sits on stilts with just that little bridge to the front door.
From the same walk as the previous sunrise shot, a bit later on once there was a bit of light :)

Somehow this one has made explore too, they seem to come in pairs these days! Thanks everyone!

Attenborough Sunrise (Explored!)

Attenborough Sunrise (Explored!)

Put a lot of effort into getting up early today to go for a walk around Attenborough Nature Reserve and hopefully get some good sunrise photos.
Ended up walking about 9 miles and didn't find a huge amount of shots there to be honest but this is definitely my favourite.
I took a few different versions, this is a bit of a longer exposure which nicely smooths out the water in the foreground, unfortunately it makes the tree branches a bit blurry too but still reckon it works OK.

I was out with my fiancee and her friend on this shoot and I've got to give Adam credit for spotting this one, he's uploaded his take on the scene so check that out here www.flickr.com/photos/73056958@N00/6924011907

Southwell Minster

Southwell Minster

This is actually a big stitch of 5 landscape shots as I just couldn't get far enough back to fit the whole thing in on my 18-200mm lens. I guess this method is more cost effective than buying a wideangle lens and I think it's worked out pretty well!
Gives my camera a much better resolution too :)

Windows

Windows

I'm going all abstract/architectural with this one - from the same day as the last few uploads and I guess in the same vein as the warehouse shot.
I quite like the way the wet patches from the melting snow breaks up what would otherwise be a really clean, simple shot.
I also discovered that I'm terrible at taking photos straight, had to do a fair bit of tweaking to get the perspective and everything right on this one, hopefully you can't tell!
