Pretty Bird.

Lilac-breasted Roller sitting in a thorn just a few feet off the road. He stayed there while we shot all the pictures we wanted ( quite a few ) and was still there when we left. Normally these birds aren't easy to get close to especially if you have a camera in your hand.
    Off beanbag. 20D W/100-400mm lens.

      Did I miss something ???? Did I NOT list this bird as a " Lilac-breasted Roller " ???

    18. teunissen (66 months ago | reply)

Oops, yes sorry, you did in the comments. ( but not in the tags. It would be really nice if you could also tag them with the english and scientific names, then this stunning picture could be found by many more birdlovers from all over the world)
Sorry again for me overlooking your ID.

    19. Picture Taker 2 (66 months ago | reply)

Thank you for your interest. The fact is that I'm 72 years old. I love photography but have neither the time nor interest in doing scientific names. Hope you like my photography but it comes on a what you see is what you get basis. I also don't put them in groups and bunches and herds and gaggles and how ever you want them stacked. I just like being out and try my best and sometimes I get lucky. Thank you, PT2

      Hi,

okay fair enough! I certainly like your photography, it's really nice!

(By the way, the reason why I asked you to tag these pictures with a English and a scientific name, was because I like it when many people can get a glimpse of the beautiful diverse nature we have on this earth. By tagging with clear keywords, it will be easier for a lot of people to view it. The same scientific names are used everywhere in the world so when we talk about a certain bird evreybody knows what we're talking about. Even nicer is when we tag a scientific name and a location, then you really get a good grip on the variation between different areas. If you're not keen on tagging and sharing, that's off course fine).

Leaves me saying this is a beautiful picture.....

of a Lilac-breasted roller Coracias caudata ;-) haha lol

Good luck, and please make many more of these very nice pictures! !

Some people tag their photos; some don’t…that’s life.
I also do not tag my bird photos with every possible name it may have....just don't have the time.

This is a fantastic shot of a “Pretty Bird” ;-)
