    Taken from the AD magazine feature on Central Milton Keynes, published in 1974. The image shows architectural City Square, the large open and often wind-swept area at the western end of the CMK shopping building. I worked in one of the satellite buildings that flanked the square, the Tourist Information Centre, opposite the Civic Offices. This area was one of the first original MK buildings to be demolished and redeveloped, this now being the site of M&S. The lower picture is a cross section of the main shopping building.

      fantastically simple design. you can see how the developers took inspiration from mies van der rohe.
