Looks like the King of Copy, Microsoft, copied OS X error screen. Too Bad they can’t write proper code. It also looks like in the rush for a Xmas release they did not do proper real world testing. However crashing at boot up shows that bad code is present in the firmware.

The reason it looks like the same kernel panic as the Mac OS is because both the Mac and the playstation and the xbox use the NetBSD operating system as it's backbone since it's the OS that supports the widest array of hardware platforms. (you name it, NetBSD probably runs on it)
the problem is simple really, microsoft. they don't know what theyre doing with the x86 platform and completely have no business with the PPC and REALLY have no business coding for BSD kernels when they can't even figure out how to make a stable Windows kernel that they "invented". They probably use the same ideology they use when building x86 software and gave no thought to IPC stability.
Like other dude said, just a rush for Christmas like every other MS product.

er, that's totally inaccurate. the only BSD-like thing about OS X is the UNIX userland. the stuff from the kernel downward is not at all similar. and being as this is a kernel panic, that's the relavant part. plus, i doubt a XBOX 360 even has a UNIX userland..

OS X uses "Darwin" which is Apple's BSD based on FreeBSD. It uses the Mach micro-kernel.

That error screen is almost identicial to the error screen on the original xbox, except its white on black, instead of green on black. And they moved the location of the error code from the top to the bottom. Changing the color of text from green to white doesn't mean anything was stolen, though it was a nice try to slam microsoft (which is like fish in a barrel these days).
And most of the screenshots here look like a standard graphic device output when it overheats, I've seen similiar effects on my PC from time to time.

Hmm...the new console Microsoft is punting as "revolutionary" is unstable? Instability isn't revolutionary, it's Microsoft's trademark!
Oh, and the OS X error screen is totally independent of the procesor/firmware/NetBSD, as it resides in the OS itself. OS X 10.1 used a block of text prefaced with "Panic! We're really hanging here...", and OS X 10.2 draws a square on the screen telling you in several languages to turn your Mac off because the kernel is brainf**ked. And how MS thinks someeone is going to be able to read the CHinese on the bottom is just beyond me.

The screen shots look very much like the same problem I had with a raydeon 7000 card in some odd named motherboard. If you barely tapped the PC the screen would go all fuzzy and sometimes colorful like that. I had to turn the PC off, jiggle the video card and it would normally restart fine. That card worked fine in another PC and that MB has another card in it and it works great..... some kind of incompatability issues.

Looks like faulty or overheating graphics subsystem to me (most likely on a console by console basis) and LMAO at Mac zealots finding a MS bashing angle - of course ANYTHING Microsoft does is ALWAYS COPIED from Apple. You put an error on a screen and you 'copied' from Apple. LOL.
Speaking of which, where is the Apple games console zealots..? I mean - surely Microsoft must have copied that from Apple too right? So where is it?

Apple had the Pippin game console in the mid-ninties. So, yes, Microsoft followed Apple into the gaming console market. But no one is saying that Microsoft copied Apple by creating the Xbox.

The reason the Xbox even became popular is advertising and lack of interest from 14 year olds in purchasing quality equipment. I personally do not doubt the hardware inside but in the quality of the software that runs it. If we all remember back when the first Xbox came out at the very first conference they had brought several because of system instability. Every premier of Windows showcased how well Gates can play off the fact he's seeing a blue screen in front of 3,000 onlookers.
Buying something from a crap company is like re-electing a crap president, you have your loyal hopes up but true to reputation everything comes out retarded.
(mdellabitta needs to use his computer for research instead of BBW porn, netbsd is the base for an endless array of obscure or proprietary hardware and there is limited interchangability between bsdi, obsd, nbsd, and fbsd. regardless of the exactness of detail, it's BSD unix and microsoft + unix = Jackass style hilarity)

I have a KISS DP-558 player. It's OS is Linux and it crashes quite often. It freezes in the middle of playing mp3s, you often cannot fast forward in mpeg or avi files (never while playing mp3s) etcetc. So it's not only MS having shitty hard-/firmware.
But this looks much more like an overheating problem. Everyone having overclocked his graphics card knows this kind of screens.

this just isnt right... i loved my first xbox but as of this day forward, i will shit on xbox 360 and any microsoft related product. it really pisses me off that they released this bug infested unfinished pile of shit right before the hollidays just so microsoft could make "a killing" (as if they dont have enough money already). i hope most people, me being one of them, will chose to take huge steamy runny dumps on microsoft. ps3 or revolution ONLY. Its really obvious for anyone to see that this console was greedily forced and rushed into finalization
and production just so that every kid would ask for one for x-mas, which i find downright unacceptable.. ITS A CONSOLE FOR FUCKS SAKE!!! we chose consoles over pc's to avoid crashings, patchings and the rest of that pc related gayness.... microsoft, the xbox360 is simply...UNACCEPTABLE.id release some patches to patch this piece of shit up pretty quick so maybe you can sweep this one under the carpet....fucking losers.
