It had vertical white stripes on the lateral edges of its tail and was actively flitting around chasing insects. The male was more distinctive and kind of looked like a chickadee. But I couldn't get it to hold still.

A male bird flew by showing off some breeding plumage.
As a child, I was told that in the 1950s a tropical storm blew a group of Cattle Egret from Africa to South American. By the early 1960s they spread to southern Florida. And now they are in Maryland.
