A small boat with a single occupant tails the steamer. A number of ships are visible on the left-side of the image, including a schooner with its sails deployed and a much larger frigate in the background, behind the bow of the steamer.
In the background can be seen the Bunker Hill Monument, and, in the distance, churches and government buildings in the heart of Boston.
