Tennyson Memorial Statue, Cathedral Green, Lincoln
To the best of my knowledge there are only two public statues in Lincoln, this one of Alfred Lord Tennyson, one of Lincolnshires famous sons, on the Cathedral Green and one of Dr Edward Parker Charlesworth in the Lawn Grounds which can be seen here .George Frederic Watts, who was perhaps better known as a painter and who was also a friend of Tennyson, was asked to do a memorial of Tennyson for Lincolnshire and carved a statue of Tennyson and his dog from a model. The bronze statue has stood outside Lincoln Cathedral for over 100 years.

I've always loved this statue, Brian. Tennyson, of course, is also famous here on the Isle of Wight with many memorials dedicated to him. I'm always proud to say to the locals that both he and I are born Yellowbellies.

i tried to make an arty shot of this a while ago, but haven't quite worked out how to do it yet! the man on the bench is a nice touch.

Thanks for stopping by Kevin & Wayne, appreciated.
Kevin - Yes, of course he would also be famous there having lived on the Isle of Wight himself. Incidentally G.F Watts (who is responsible for the statue) also regularly visited the Isle of Wight and often met up with Tennyson whilst he was there.
Wayne - I liked the fact I caught someone on the seat, regretably the shirt rather burnt out. Tried a few times since but can't get the same feel to the shot :o(

Bonita la composición con el señor sentado en el banco.
¿Quizás hay demasiada luz?
google: Pretty the composition with the gentleman seated in the bank.
Perhaps is too much light?

Thanks Andy, I just wish the exposure had been better and the white shirt had not bleached out, never managed to get the right composition when passing by since.

It's a great statue. The triangle between Tennyson's head, his hat and the the dog's head gives a serene feeling. The man on the bench gives another vertical angle. I don't feel that any "bleaching" of the shirt is an issue. It draws the sitting figure into the photo.
