Paul Allen's mega-yacht "Octopus" 2008

Paul Allen's mega-yacht "Octopus" 2008 by colleeninhawaii.
In 2003, Microsoft's Paul Allen - worth US$20 billion according to Forbes, the third richest man in America and 7th in the world, launched the 127m (416ft) "Octopus", which at the time was the world's largest yacht.
The Octopus cost Allen over US$200 million and has Permanent crew of 60, including several former Navy Seals. It has two helicopters, seven boats, a 10 man submarine and a remote controlled vehicle for crawling on the Ocean floor. The submarine has the capacity to sleep eight for up to two weeks underwater.

I saw it moored in Venice last summer (2007) and it is BIG when you are standing close enough to reach out and touch the hull. It looked spotless as well, although there were patchy dark blue areas of the hull that looked as if they had been damaged and repainted, particularly near or just under the waterline. I read somewhere that the crew have the task of cleaning her hull and superstructure top to bottom before they ever enter port and moor so that she always looks pin sharp and sparkling. Beats my spring cleaning at home !

Great shot by the way, I was too close to get it all in.

I saw it last week in San Juan, PR and is amaizing. I will post some fotos this week. I think is to expensive. With that amount of money and the anual cost for the crew you can suport a small country or use it to find the cure for a diseace.
