Start of Unsworth Boardwalk

It's growing on me as it weathers. I had a bleat about this new path as they mowed-down a lot of trees to build it but I guess it's opened-up the area as a commuter route and now pushchairs, kids-on-bikes & decrepits can use it. The old twisty, turny, muddy trail was more fun for mountainbiking and walking in my opinion but I guess I'm being a little selfish!

is that netting/mesh put down for traction? i can imagine the boards can get pretty slick in after a rain. some of the A-frames and wood ladders on our local mountain bike trails have chicken wire tacked to them for that reason. cool boardwalk!

Yeah, for grip. Auckland is a warm/wet place so wood gets slimy pretty quick.

oh wow, quite a change! it looks nice and i'm sure it will be much used, but as you said, something has certainly been lost.
