In the summer of 2006, a Rozgar Adhikar Pad Yatra (journey on foot) was carried out in Dungarpur district of Rajasthan where activists from all over India and other nations as well as the local residents of this district got together to walk across over 200 panchayats (clusters of villages) over a period of 10 days to monitor and have a social audit on the newly opened NREGA worksites. The objective of this movement was to weed out corruption that still existed and to spread awareness amongst the people in this region about their right to work and their right to information. Most people who joined this movements were residents of this district themselves who had given up wages for 10 days to be a part of this journey.

Two young boys try to plough a piece of land.
The terrain in this region is hard and barren throughout and leaves little scope for anything to be grown. Groundnut is the crop that is usually grown in those places which have life.

Childrenl at an NREGA worksite. In many cases, rural families are forced to send their children to work at the NREGA worksites out of desperation. 100 days of work a year per household is not enough for families with
many members. So while parents look for work elsewhere, children labour at the worksites.
