Gulf Station

The owner came out while I was taking pictures to see what I was doing. He said lots of people stop to take pictures of it but he does not have any pictures of the place. I plan to go out there this weekend with a couple of prints to give him so hopefully I will have more information to post next week.

    Update:
I delivered the prints and talked to the current owner, a gentleman named Telford. He said the building has been in his family since 1975 but the building itself is about 100 years old. It was originally run by Rufus Baird. In 1975 Edward "Bo" Phillips was working for Rufus and took over the business. Bo was Telford's stepfather and Bo passed away in 1996. The store has been closed since then.

ok um...how did you do this...was it raining/snowing/METEOR SHOWERING.....and was there an alien craft landing in the trees off yonder????

      very cool shot.

HA! None of the above. It was a 5 minute exposure. The longer you leave the shutter open the long the trails will be from the stars because of the Earth's rotation. The green light was caused by the house next door. They had weird green floodlights. They also had a flag pole but it was so windy last night that you can't even tell it was a flag

This is great. I think there are very few Gulf stations left. I used to live near the research facility in PA. It was closed years ago.

This is a great long exposure.

I am glad you got to meet the owner - that is always a special treat. I always enjoy learning about a place, it adds so much to the photos, and I am always glad to give prints to the owners.

I lived down the road from here in 1971-1976,and I remember Rufus. He had "accounts",where people would come and get what they needed and sign the ticket book and pay him when they got paid, and he carried the remainder balance if they couldn't pay all at once.
