brickworks high angle

    toronto's don valley brickworks.
on saturday morning shahin, hasnain, ghazal and I paid a visit to this abandoned factory. the morning sun was shining through the holes in the ceiling.

I strongly recommend checking out the bigger size for more details.

    half-life 2 anyone?

It's good to see that you're also on flickr. I've set your daily dose of imagery along with Shahin's as my homepage(s) to begin my days with pleasant images ;-) You're also featured in my own photoblog on xanga.

I've yet to come to the urban landscapes group photo exhibition, am planning to do so tomorrow if time allows, something that I wouldn't want to miss.

About the image itself, the simplicity of the architectural arrangement reflects the linear industrial processes that may have occurred within, which I suspect to be steel works, it's almost an architectural discourse in its own right that took place simultaneously across continents. Perhaps photographs are the only preservation that we'll have left of these buildings that were engines to the industrial revolution, the skeletal frame you've captured of this building is really the essence of the place in its own time. Brilliant work as one would always expect from you.

Very stunning. I love the theatricality of the shot and how the beams of light punch through the structure to light up the space. It has this surreal feel to it.

The staircase gives a hint of scale and adds to the perception of how huge this place is. Having said that, I did a mental exercise imagining that this is a photo of some tiny industrial crawlspace :)
