The one thing growing in my veggie garden right now. Taken with a 50mm f/1.8 macro/portrait lens that I came across at our local thrift shop. What a bonus!! It's vintage, made for a 35mm but that's half the fun.

I found this antique window latch about 20 years ago for about a dollar at a yard sale. I've been waiting for just the right place to use it. My husband is in the process of building a potting shed (or, garden cottage) for me from salvaged materials, including old, shabby chic windows. This antique bronze latch fit just perfectly into this new-old space. I can't wait til it's finished.

A bright spot in an otherwise cold and rainy spring day. One of a dozen or more canaries that visit daily. Also known as the American Goldfinch and the Eastern Goldfinch. Their sweet, high-pitched whistle is unmistakable. I know there is some controversy about feeding birds, but feeding these birds apparently increases their survival rate.

A late bloomer on our Thunderchild Crab tree. A promise of spring even though we had snow a few days ago!!! I like how the textured layers created the illusion that the branch and shadows were up against a stone wall.
