Dennis collection of stereoscopic views(sic), is from Atchison area photographers Conklin & Kleckner. A similar style stereoview, showing bridge construction, dates to 1875. The earliest possible date for this image seems to be 1871. One frame in the original image shows a building titled "Blish" to the right of Shoup, possibly a forerunner of Blish, Mize, and Silliman. The company was founded in 1871 to equip wagon trains headed west.
