This was edited in Photoshop Elements. First, I used the quick selection tool to outline the apple itself, and the "refine edge" options to feather the edge a little. Then I made the apple a layer by itself with Layer -> New -> Layer via Copy.
In the layers pane, I made the background invisible so it wouldn't be affected.
Then I used the rectangular marquee tool to select an area to work on. I changed the pencil tool into the colour replacement tool, and made a huge brush, larger than the rectangle. I used the eyedropper tool to pull the exact colours from another image of the real apple logo. Then I re-coloured the rectangle by drawing a straight line with the colour replacement tool (click once, then shift click at the other end of the line). If the colour wasn't saturated enough, I just painted more lines; they accumulate.
Finally, I turned the background visible again and flattened the image.
No multinational corporations were harmed during the making of this image.
