9 December 2006, before the top of the table Championship clash between Birmingham City (1st at the time) and Preston North End (2nd).
Birmingham won 3-1, with Gary McSheffrey scoring a hat-trick, and they went on to win promotion to the Premier League. Preston went on to throw their promotion hopes away yet again, and are still in the Championship.
