that paved the way for us. It's funny how life has a way of conglomerating seemingly random events into a cohesive plan, as clear as day. Every now and then, light enters through the quotidian mist, elucidating the purpose from whence we came.

A tenuous existence

A tenuous existence

It's amazing to me that this little hut has managed to survive many storms like that of the last few nights. High surf advisories cast in magnificent swells and waves that are channelized and upwelled by sea floor troughs and shelves. The result is a cascading orchestra of waves crashing in multiple directions: from the bay to the south, from the current to the north, from the wind to the west, from the returning tidewater to the east, and returning from every major rock formation on the coast. Chunks of rock audibly separate from the bluffs that hold them, crashing into the ocean with a distinct ka-thunk! The immediate offers only one perspective: where everything weighs on the here and now. When you slow everything down to look at the big picture, every dramatic crashing waves smoothens into a sheet of silk and the upsetting of each falling rock translates into gradual, meaningful change. Amidst all this activity, a hut of branches and palms defies unstoppable coastal processes, if only for a moment longer.
